Karl focuses his practice on advising small to mid-sized businesses on contract matters, real estate transactions, and commercial disputes. Drawing on his background in construction and real estate, he provides practical, business-minded guidance tailored to clients in the construction, real estate, and banking industries.

Karl’s transactional practice includes representing businesses and individuals in commercial and residential real estate transactions, as well as advising developers, landlords, tenants, exchangers, and condemnees. He is certified by the Minnesota State Bar Association as a Real Property Law Specialist, reflecting his depth of experience in this area.
In his litigation practice, Karl represents businesses and individuals in partnership and shareholder disputes, contract matters, loan and workout disputes, boundary issues, condemnations, tax appeals, mechanic’s liens, and surety claims. He also regularly presents on construction-related topics, including seminars on the Minnesota mechanic’s lien process.
Karl’s practical perspective comes from firsthand industry experience. Before becoming an attorney, he worked in real estate sales in Wisconsin, and his family owned and operated a construction company—experience that informs his approach to advising clients.
Karl has been regularly named to the Minnesota Super Lawyers® list.
Outside the office, Karl enjoys golfing and spending time with his wife and family, often hiking, skiing, or biking—especially along Minnesota’s North Shore.
