Austin focuses his practice on insurance defense and civil litigation. He represents insurers and insureds in a wide range of third-party and first-party claims, including bodily injury, general liability, and insurance coverage matters. Austin manages all phases of litigation, from initial case evaluation through discovery, motion practice, settlement negotiations, and trial preparation. He regularly takes and defends depositions, analyzes medical records, works with expert witnesses, and provides strategic recommendations to clients and carriers.
Prior to joining the firm, Austin practiced with a Scottsdale-based law firm where he maintained an insurance defense caseload and handled complex litigation matters for the entirety through trial, mediation, and settlement. He also served as an associate attorney with a national law firm focused on Federal Indian and tribal law, where he drafted legal memoranda, commercial documents, resolutions, ordinances, and court filings.
Earlier in his career, Austin served as a law clerk and courtroom bailiff for the Arizona Superior Court in Pima County, where he prepared legal memoranda, rulings, and orders and worked closely with judges on legal issues arising in civil and family law matters. He also clerked for the Honorable Cindy K. Jorgenson of the United States District Court for the District of Arizona.
Outside of his legal practice, Austin enjoys watching sports, volunteering at his church, gardening, swimming, and spending time with his wife and children. He also is a history buff and enjoys participating in Civil War reenactments as a Private of the 20th Maine Volunteer Infantry.
