Karl focuses his practice on business transactions and commercial litigation for clients within the real estate profession and construction industry. In addition, Karl defends real estate professionals against claims made under their professional liability (errors and omission) policies.
Karl's perspective on client relations: I feel a real rapport with those in construction and real estate. My family owned and operated a small construction company, and before I went to law school, I sold real estate in Wisconsin so I have practical, hands-on experience that I feel is invaluable to my clients.
In his transactional practice, Karl represents commercial and residential buyers and sellers, developers and landlords, tenants, exchangers and condemnees. Karl supplements his transactional experience with a certification (granted by the Minnesota State Bar Association) as a real property law specialist.
In his litigation practice, he represents businesses and individuals in contract claims, boundary disputes, condemnations, tax appeals, mechanic’s liens and surety claims. He enjoys public speaking and regularly presents a seminar -- Understanding the Minnesota Mechanic’s Lien Process -- before audiences of construction industry professionals. Karl has been regularly named a Super Lawyer by Minnesota Law & Politics magazine.
Outside the office, Karl enjoys golf, trail biking and skiing the back bowls at Vail and the groomed black-diamond runs at Copper.
