Our Catastrophic Loss Team includes attorneys trained in the cause and origin of explosions, fires, and product failures. We hold the certifications that distinguish us from our peers. Our lawyers are ProBoard certified safety and branch officers, radiation safety officers, and 29 CFR 1910.120(q) Hazardous Materials technicians and first responders, Certified Fire and Explosion investigators, and CETP certified by the National Propane Gas Association (NPGA) in propane installation and safety. Our attorneys have also completed and served as faculty for advanced cause and origin investigation programs sponsored by the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).
An immediate response to a loss can be critical to minimizing damages and exposure, and maximizing subrogation recovery. The Meagher & Geer Catastrophic Loss Team has rapid-response capabilities. Our technically trained Team of attorneys can be on the scene of an accident within hours, securing it from further destruction, preserving evidence, and planning a defense or recovery strategy. At the scene, we work with local fire marshals and law enforcement officials to ensure that critical evidence is properly preserved. We immediately begin to determine what happened, and who might be responsible.
Meagher & Geer has long standing relationships and experience with consulting forensic experts across the country. We are able to retain outside forensic experts when necessary and get them to the accident site within hours of the incident. Because our attorneys are technically trained, we are able to direct experts, easily understand their findings and reports, and control costs. We are also able to communicate complex ideas in easy-to-understand terms.
We represent product designers, manufacturers, contractors, fuel gas suppliers, commercial industrial risk property insurers, and other similar companies across the nation. Our cases have involved propane, natural gas, and anhydrous-ammonia explosions, environmental hazards, electrical fires, chemical-processing explosions, tanker-trailer rollovers, railroad derailments, structural collapse, consumer-product injuries, and all manner of catastrophic loss.
"We have conducted forensic investigations on chemical release and fire/explosion with members of the Team. We find them to be exceptionally qualified, certified and competent."
DuPont Emergency Response
"The combination of technical and legal skills is the difference between controlling the crisis and being in the midst of a crisis."
